• Where can I explore? During your visit you are free to roam the public areas of the building. Explore our new cafe, bars, creative engagement studio, front of house spaces, and our beautiful auditorium.
• Get a glimpse backstage: our tech team are busy preparing for the International Festival, so only a very limited number of backstage tours will be available to book in person on the day, at the box office. These are strictly first come, first served. Tickets for public tours in the autumn will be on sale for those who miss out.
• Cafe: our new cafe on the ground floor will be open and serving a sample menu of cake, tea/coffee, soft drinks and other refreshments.
• Bars: will be open on all levels serving refreshments.
• Box office:The King’s Box Office will be open to Opening Weekend ticket-holders within their time-slot from Saturday 1pm – 8:30pm and Sunday 10am – 5:30pm.
• Cloakroom: we would ask that you refrain from bringing large or bulky items as there is no cloakroom at the King’s Theatre.
• Merchandise: a selection of King’s Theatre souvenirs will be available throughout the weekend. These include notebooks, mugs, posters and a beautiful souvenir brochure featuring the theatre’s fascinating history, and photography from the archive and the redevelopment.
• Say hello to our team: Capital Theatres staff will be wearing black or blue Capital Theatres t-shirts on the day. Do stop to chat – we’re full of interesting facts about the building and its redevelopment.
• Photography and filming: Official photography and filming will be taking place throughout the event. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please speak to a member of staff on duty.

At this event you’ll get the chance to explore the building at your own leisure to see what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and chat to our staff and volunteers about all things King’s .

If you require any further assistance, or have any questions on the day, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of the Capital Theatres team. We will be identifiable by our black or bright blue t-shirts.

• Quiet rooms: we have two quiet rooms, one in the Upper Circle and one in the Creative Engagement Studio on the top floor. Both are accessible by the stairs and lifts.
• Theatre wheelchairs: Should you require, we have 8 wheelchairs available. Please ask a member of staff on arrival to check availability. We are unable to book these out in advance.
• Sensory backpacks, ear defenders and dignity packs: are all available at the King’s Theatre. Should you require any then please ask any member of staff and they’ll be happy to assist.
• Accessible lifts: the two lifts in the building can take you to all floors of the building. The lift on the right of the building as you enter is the closest to all accessible toilets and quiet rooms.
• Get a glimpse backstage: There are two tours within this time slot, at 10am and 10.45am. These have very limited capacity and are offered on a first come, first served basis. You can book these in person at the box office during your time slot. Tickets for public tours in the autumn will be on sale for those who miss out.

• Cloakroom: please refrain from bringing large or bulky items this evening as the cloakroom will not be open for this event.

This weekend’s backstage tours can only be booked in person at the box office, during the timeslot you have booked.

They can’t be booked in advance or outside your slot window. If you’d like to join us for a tour, head to the box office as soon as you arrive for your timeslot to check availability.

If you miss out this time, don’t worry, you’ll be given priority access to the full backstage tours taking place from October. These cost £15 and last approximately 2 hours, offering an in-depth look at the King’s Theatre. Our team will be happy to help you book onto these tours at your convenience.
