Our commitment to supporting fair work, investing in people and expanding high-quality employment and skills training within the cultural sector
The IRES 2027+ Pledge is a regional commitment, launched by the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal Joint Committee, to support fair work, investment in people, and the expansion high-quality employment and skills training within the cultural sector.
The pledge reflects Capital Theatres’ longstanding commitment to developing the cultural sector workforce and creating pathways into careers in theatre.
Over recent years, we have:
- Supported artists and companies to create original work through commissions, co-productions and initiatives such as the Wee Ones winter commissions.
- Worked in partnership with Edinburgh College to develop an apprenticeship which offers hands-on training in a live theatre setting and an SCQF Level 7 Diploma in Technical Theatre and Production Operations qualification.
- Inspired the next generation of theatre-makers through Creative Pathways, a programme for young people aged 12+ that provides insight into working in theatre and supports young creatives on their journey from participant to professional.
