Relaxed Performance
Scottish Ballet: The Nutcracker
A relaxed performance of Scottish Ballet's The Nutcracker for people requiring additional support and their families.
To make you feel welcome, relaxed and well-supported, we’ll have lots of trained staff on hand to help with any access requirements, anyone can feel free to make noise and move around the auditorium, we’ll keep the lights on, but dimmed to reduce anxiety, and we’ll provide break out spaces with a live stream of the show so that if people would like to leave the auditorium they don't have to miss out on the action.
To further enhance your enjoyment, Scottish Ballet has 20 places available at a Touch Tour and a live Audio Description of the Relaxed Performance. At the Touch Tour, from 1.30pm-2pm, you will be shown costumes and props and hear all about the main characters and the storyline. For the Audio Description, you will be given headsets from the theatre to listen to a clear explanation of what’s taking place, on stage, throughout the performance. Theatre staff will help you to use these headsets and be on hand to answer any questions.
There is no additional cost to your Relaxed Performance ticket to attend the Touch Tour and Audio Description. Booking your place at the Touch Tour will also reserve your Audio Description headset. To secure your place please contact the Festival Theatre box office on 0131 529 6000.
Any onstage announcements will be BSL interpreted.
Further information about the Relaxed Performance, including a visual story and photos of the main characters, will be available on Scottish Ballet’s website from the autumn.
