Some of our 2025/26 Student Ambassadors have been reflecting on their experience, sharing what they gained from being part of the programme.
Our Student Ambassador scheme brings together students from across Edinburgh and beyond to get closer to the world of theatre. Over the course of the year, ambassadors work with our Marketing and Creative Engagement teams, take part in workshops, meet industry professionals, enjoy behind-the-scenes access and help spread the word about theatre to other students and young people.
Looking back on this year, our ambassadors spoke about the opportunities they discovered, the people they met and the confidence they gained along the way.
For Aradhana, the programme offered a welcoming introduction to the industry. She described Capital Theatres as “the friendliest, warmest and most approachable place to be to start to find my way into the world of professional theatre”, adding that it has been “an expansive and welcoming way into the theatre and a most joyous experience”.
Lily's highlights
Throughout the year, ambassadors got the chance to explore different areas of theatre through workshops covering everything from producing and networking to puppetry. They also took on practical challenges, creating content, attending events and helping to promote opportunities for other young people.
The programme comes with some pretty special experiences too. Aradhana’s highlights included attending the dress rehearsal of Scottish Ballet’s The Snow Queen and getting backstage access to Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, while Lily loved coming to the panto press launch event and seeing the War Horse puppet up close during a photo call on the Festival Theatre stage.
As Lily puts it, being an ambassador gave her “beneficial insight into various aspects of theatre” and increased her confidence about working in the industry in the future.
One of the main highlights for our ambassadors was the people they met along the way. Aradhana enjoyed connecting with fellow theatre lovers from across Edinburgh and Fife, while Petra spoke about meeting people who inspired her and helped her see things from different perspectives.
“Theatre is a wonderful community full of creative, supportive and passionate people,” Petra said. “I feel very lucky to have been part of it.”

For Petra, the support she received throughout the year was especially meaningful. She was able to use some of our theatre spaces to support her college project and bring her creative ideas to life. She also highlighted how much it meant to be surrounded by people who actively support young artists as they find their place in the industry.
Lily echoed that feeling, recommending the programme to anyone with an interest in theatre and praising the team for creating opportunities that reflect ambassadors’ different interests and ambitions.
From workshops and networking events to backstage tours and unforgettable theatre moments, this year’s ambassadors embraced every opportunity that came their way. We’ve loved working with this year’s team and thank you to to Aradhana, Lily and Petra for sharing their experiences.
