Significant strides are being made on the King's Theatre project, with key aspects of the building taking shape both on the exterior and interior of the building.
The eagle-eyed may have already spotted these key changes to the exterior of the theatre. Local residents and passersby will be excited to see that the scaffolding on the east side of the building has been taken down. As such, the extended fly tower is visible in all its glory to those looking at the building from Tarvit Street. The feature window on a staircase to the north side of the building has been completed, allowing natural light to the flood the stairwell. The walls of the staircase itself are nearly finished being dry-lined and tiling can soon begin.

Work on our brand-new street-level café continues to progress smoothly. Over the past three months, the new internal café floor has been installed, and the external groundworks have been completed. The recently dug-out basement has now been re-enclosed following the installation of steel beams and metal decking. All of this lays the groundwork for the forthcoming construction of the external café structure on Stage Lane, the enlarged basement-level toilets and the kitchen to support the new café and bars.
In the very heart of the theatre, work is progressing well on the stage basement with all partition walls constructed. Excitingly, this means the installation of the new stage floor can soon begin. The auditorium and plant room are also steadily staking shape and, once completed, the internal scaffolding will be removed to reveal the full extent of these newly developed spaces. Very soon, the Kings Theatre will once more have a stage on which to perform and an auditorium space from which to watch and enjoy.

Lastly, the Creative Engagement Studio is currently a hive of activity, reflecting the energy we hope to see once the space is complete. All sorts of works are underway to install partition walls, plumbing for new toilets, ventilation and electrical installations. Within the next few months, the final flooring and installations can be fitted, and the space will be ready to welcome a bustling community of users.
