Explore our heritage events and see why the King’s Theatre holds such a special place in Edinburgh’s story.
Step in to our story
Discover the wide range of activities brought to life by the King’s Theatre Heritage Engagement Team. Whether you’ve loved the theatre for years or are just beginning to explore its rich past, there’s something here for everyone.
Many of our activities link to The People’s Archive, giving you new ways to connect with the stories, people and performances that have shaped our theatres through the years. Upcoming activities can be found in bold below.
Our regular programme of daytime Heritage Engagement activity is now live to book. Unless otherwise stated, all activity takes place in the King’s Theatre’s Creative Engagement Studio.
Heritage Talks
Step into the world of theatre history with our engaging Heritage Talks. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to hear directly from individuals who not only bring expert knowledge, but also have first-hand experience of shaping theatre history in Edinburgh and beyond. Regular daytime Heritage Talks explore the changes the King’s Theatre has undergone over the past 120 years.
These are relaxed and welcoming events with plenty of room for spontaneous stories, surprising anecdotes, and meaningful exchange. Admission is free, but booking is essential to help us ensure you have the best possible experience.

Join our skilled Heritage volunteers as they take you on a journey around King’s Theatre, sharing our favourite stories about the King’s Theatre’s heritage.
Please note these free tours are separate to our paid Backstage Tours.
Heritage Coffee Mornings
Join us for our themed Heritage Coffee Mornings, an informal chance to handle original archival materials from the King’s Theatre, enjoy complimentary tea or coffee, and share personal memories and stories of Edinburgh’s rich cultural past.
