A theatre restored, a community reunited.

Just one final act to go

This summer, the King’s Theatre will reopen its doors for the first time since 2022 and we want to ensure that when it does it will be a world-class theatre for all. This is a once in a generation transformation that we need your help to complete.

There are still finishing touches to be made to the spaces where artists perform, audiences gather, and memories are made.

The curtain is rising on a new chapter for the King’s, and every donation brings that moment closer. Will you join us for the final act?

With your support we are…

  • Making the King’s accessible to everyone with step-free access from street to seat, and street to stage, for the first time in the King’s history. There will be two new lifts front-of-house and one lift backstage.
  • Investing in new state-of-the-art facilities, increasing the height of the fly tower by 4.5 metres and installing a new, flat stage, so the theatre can accommodate larger-scale productions and new genres, including dance.
  • Incorporating a brand-new double-height Creative Engagement Studio for school and community workshops.
  • Building a new street-level café to welcome the community every day.
  • Improving everyone’s audience experience with updated bar and hospitality spaces, new audio description and captioning facilities, more toilets and a Changing Places toilet.
  • Celebrating over a century of theatre history by preserving key architectural features of the theatre, such as John Byrne’s iconic dome design in the auditorium and installing archive displays of the King’s heritage.
