Capital Theatres is looking for two theatre makers to join our new Associate Artist Scheme, an 18-month programme supporting artists to develop ambitious new work for audiences who are often underserved by mainstream theatre.
A new opportunity for mid-career theatre makers in Scotland
We know there are very few professional development opportunities available for artists once they move beyond the early stages of their career. This scheme has been created to provide the time, resources, mentoring and space to deepen your practice, develop new ideas and create work that places access at its heart.
We are seeking two Associate Artists:
- One artist to develop work for people living with dementia
- One artist to develop work for children with complex or additional support needs
The Associate Artist placements will run over 18 months between October 2026 and March 2028. We will work with you to agree a bespoke programme of activity that reflects your needs, interests and availability across the period so you are able to continue working on other creative projects and/or manage your own access needs or caring responsibilities during this time.
