At Capital Theatres, we take great joy in sharing the magic of Christmas with as many people as we can. We know a lot of people in care homes are not able to visit a theatre anymore so, for the third year running, we have brought a specially devised and produced show to 18 care homes and day centres throughout Edinburgh.
The tour started on the 27 November and culminated at Festival Theatre with two special performances for people living with dementia who regularly participate in our workshops and activities on the 6 December.

This new production, Jack in the Box, is a specially crafted dementia friendly performance created by and performed by singer Michelle Burke and pianist James Ross. The story is set aboard a train, and unfolds as a playful and heart-warming tale filled with humour and lively music. Developed in close collaboration with our dementia-friendly focus group and a local day centre, the show is thoughtfully adapted to include person-centred sensory interactions, vintage puppetry, and familiar music, encouraging the audience to reminisce.
