Compagnie à: Object Theatre Workshop
Over the course of this half day workshop, you’ll explore the symbolic, metaphorical and evocative value of objects and materials learning object theatre practices with the artistic co-director of renowned French object theatre company, Compagnie a.
Since its creation in 2003, the company has been exploring the space for play and narrative that exists between the object and the actor, with a particular affection for working with manufactured objects.
The aim of the session is to explore the relationship with objects in different ways. Rather than trying to bring an object to life (in the manner of a puppeteer), the aim will be to look at the symbolic, metaphorical and evocative value of each object, to see how they can become raw material for writing and acting.
Through playful exercises, participants will be encouraged to explore a number of ways of playing and inventing with objects. A great deal of importance will be attached to physical preparatory work and collective improvisations, in solo, duo or trio.
