Help us save Edinburgh’s beloved King's Theatre – one of only a handful of surviving Edwardian theatres still operational in the UK.

Be part of the story

The King’s Theatre has been a beloved part of Edinburgh’s cultural life for over a century. Now it’s time to secure its future.

We’re giving the King’s a much-needed transformation, preserving its beautiful historic features, upgrading facilities and making it fully accessible for everyone. Our mission is to ensure the King’s remains a welcoming, inspiring space for generations to come.

With your support – this is what we’re doing

  • Making sure the King’s is accessible to everyone by creating step-free access from street to seat, and street to stage, for the first time in the King’s history. There will be two new lifts front-of-house and one lift backstage.
  • Investing in new state-of-the-art facilities, including increasing the height of the fly tower by 4.5 metres and installing a new, flat stage, so the theatre can accommodate larger-scale productions and new genres, including dance.
  • Incorporating a first for the King’s – a double-height Creative Engagement Studio for school and community workshops.
  • Building a new street-level café, open every day of the week to enhance the King’s role as a thriving community hub.
  • Improving your audience experience with updated bar and hospitality spaces, new audio description and captioning facilities, more toilets and a Changing Places toilet.
  • Celebrating over a century of theatre history with archive exhibitions, heritage events and by preserving key architectural features of the theatre, such as John Byrne’s iconic dome design in the auditorium.

Help us bring this vision to life. The future of the King’s starts now.
