Heritage Talks
Step into the world of theatre history with our engaging evening Heritage Talks. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to hear directly from individuals who not only bring expert knowledge, but also have first-hand experience of shaping theatre history in Edinburgh and beyond.
These are relaxed and welcoming events with plenty of room for spontaneous stories, surprising anecdotes, and meaningful exchange. Admission is free, but booking is essential to help us ensure you have the best possible experience.

Saturday Socials
Following a successful Autumn Season with our Heritage Coffee Mornings, we are continuing to share behind the scenes stories from The King’s Theatre through archival exploration and discussion on Saturday mornings. Come to our Saturday Social and relax with a cup of tea and some biscuits while you learn about the history of some classic performances or the content of The People’s Archive. No prior knowledge is required to attend this event.
Admission is free, but booking is essential to help us ensure you have the best possible experience.

Creative Ageing: Playwrights Sharing Character Stories
Citadel Arts Group is working with The People’s Archive to develop character stories about people who worked at The King’s Theatre. Join our playwrights for their sharing sessions, where have a chance to hear their work, all inspired by real people, their own experiences and archival material. Come listen, learn, and share feedback about the character and scenes produced by Citadel’s playwrights’ group.

- A Night at the King’s-24th February
- Explore a performance about a couple attending at JM Barrie production at the theatre in WWII. Delve into an immersive experience walking through the theatre, purchasing sweets for the show, and imagine what it was like for parents of a soldier abroad to watch a wartime production. This tender performance, written and prepared by Citadel Arts Group, shares an intimate look into the emotional power of theatre. Come along, share in the experience, and give your feedback as we develop this performance further.
