Step in to our story
Discover the wide range of activities brought to life by the King’s Theatre Heritage Engagement Team. Whether you’ve loved the theatre for years or are just beginning to explore its rich past, there’s something here for everyone.
Many of our activities link to The People’s Archive, giving you new ways to connect with the stories, people and performances that have shaped our theatres through the years.
Heritage Talks & Coffee Mornings
Step into the world of theatre history with our engaging evening Heritage Talks and for the early risers, our series of Heritage Coffee Mornings. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to hear directly from individuals who not only bring expert knowledge, but also have first-hand experience of shaping theatre history in Edinburgh and beyond.
These are relaxed and welcoming events with plenty of room for spontaneous stories, surprising anecdotes, and meaningful exchange. Admission is free, but booking is essential to help us ensure you have the best possible experience.
Creative Ageing
Saturday Socials
These Creative Ageing sessions invite you to explore a new theme each month. Relax with a cup of tea and some biscuits while you learn about the history of some classic performances or the content of The People’s Archive. This is a Dementia Friendly event.
King’s Playwrights Sharing Sessions
Citadel Arts Group is working with The People’s Archive to develop character stories about people who worked at The King’s Theatre. Join our playwrights for their sharing sessions, where have a chance to hear their work, all inspired by real people, their own experiences and archival material. Come listen, learn, and share feedback about the character and scenes produced by Citadel’s playwrights’ group.
