Open Floor is the scratch night where theatremakers and theatre companies from Edinburgh and beyond can test brand-new ideas in front of a live audience for the first time.
From comedy to politics, movement to musicals, we’re opening the floor to work at the earliest stage of development so you, the audience, can help the artists explore what works onstage.
This time we’re focusing on new Scottish musical theatre with work from Alexander Tait, Matchstick Productions, Prickly Pear Productions, Charades Theatre Company and Max Welton.

Alexander Tait – Hammered

Charades Theatre Company – Beth Mac
In Beth Mac, the Scottish play gets a wickedly funny makeover with brooding ballads and biting banter. Tradition meets temptation in this dark musical comedy where power sings louder than reason.
Max Welton – Pothos
Pothos is an electronic musical, influenced by Lo-Fi hip hop, that spends time with Mariner, who is trapped under the sea, and Astronaut, who is trapped up in space. How do they survive when they are so far apart?
