The King’s Theatre is now set to reopen in spring 2026 as a result of the complexity and immense scale of the ongoing redevelopment project.

Several factors have contributed to the extended programme, some of which are the result of the complexity of working on a Grade A listed heritage building. Specific areas include: the demolition of the fly tower roof, change of stage sub-contractor and necessary design changes resulting in building control requirements. These elements are essential to preserving the theatre’s architectural integrity and heritage, and will ensure its future as a modern, accessible venue for generations to come.

Due to the revised schedule, Scottish Ballet and the annual pantomime will remain at the Festival Theatre in 2025.
