Capital Theatre’s Creative Engagement team have been working hard on a brilliant range of activity to ensure that the musical phenomenon Hamilton is shared with as many students, schools, and young people in our community as possible. Over 2000 young people from schools, local colleges and early years artists have had the opportunity to delve deeper into Hamilton and the fascinating range of careers that the theatre industry offers.

For Creative Engagement Coordinator Izzy Sivewright the impact of these events is clear: “At Capital Theatres, hosting a world-class musical like Hamilton is a joy in itself but to see the scope of outreach is unprecedented and incredibly inspiring. Wraparound experiences like these are vital in building connections – whether that’s enhancing an audience member’s enjoyment and understanding of a show, or whether that’s inspiring a young person to believe that a life in the arts could be for them”.

Alongside the work from Capital Theatres, these events wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the visiting company, Izzy continues: “We are immensely grateful to the production company, cast and creative team for being so generous in offering these opportunities for Scottish communities to step into ‘the room where it happens’, and to gain such a rare window into how an incredible production like this comes together.”

“We believe that the arts should be accessible and empowering to all, and Hamilton is a show which proves that time and time again.”
