Led by War Horse puppetry alumnus, Lucas Button, this workshop is designed for artists at all stages of their performance careers, with or without prior knowledge of puppetry.
Over the course of the workshop, you will explore how to create characters through puppetry and physicality, using paper puppets and bamboo rods to recreate some of the processes used in the War Horse rehearsal room to bring Joey and the other horses to life.
You will work first independently and then in small groups, learning core techniques and practising how to respond to your fellow puppeteers and environment to conjure living breathing creatures from objects. There will also be a 30mins Q&A at the end of the workshop to ask questions about the show, performance practice and puppetry careers.
