60 seconds with Gillian Parkhouse

Currently playing Goldilocks in this year’s King’s Panto Goldilocks and the Three Bears, we sat down for a quick interview with Gillian.

Is Goldilocks your panto dream role?

No, it was actually Cinderella; however, my favourite role to play was last year’s Belle in Beauty and the Beast! She was quite feisty and I was lucky enough to get stuck into a few of the comedy scenes. I’ve never had so much fun on stage.

Who’s funnier - Grant, Allan or Andy?

Andy, obvs 😛 Eeeeek! Just kidding (I’d like to keep my job this Christmas.) They are all hilarious but completely different… *cough* Andy!

What’s the best thing about the panto season?

Seeing the children’s faces all light up and especially the hugs I get from the little girls dressed up as princesses. Year made!

What’s your advice to all the young actors out there who aspire to being in Scotland’s biggest panto?

Go to drama college, work hard, be a team player and send Qdos Entertainment chocolates!

From your many career highlights, what’s the show you are most proud of being part of and why?

Judy, a film about Judy Garland, played by Renée Zellweger. Working in a rehearsal room or on set with someone you’ve admired for years was hugely exciting. The reviews have been incredible and Renee’s even tipped to be nominated for an Oscar. We had the nicest team (I got to work with a couple of my close friends), days full of fun, banter and I’m thoroughly proud to be part of it. She was always up for a laugh and looked after us making sure we got enough breaks and even sent her friend out to get our coffee orders if we had early starts. She had time for everyone and she worked exceptionally hard to portray the iconic Judy Garland - a very special job indeed.

How do you like your porridge?

Made for me! Warm, smooth and tonnes of golden syrup.
