Creative Engagement Coordinator (Dementia Friendly Community)

Capital Theatres, based in Edinburgh, is Scotland's largest independent theatres charity, staging over 650 performances across 150 shows each year in the Festival Theatre, the King’s Theatre and The Studio.

Over 500,000 people per year come across our doors, inspiring audiences of all ages to engage with a broad and inclusive programme featuring the very best in drama, dance, musical theatre, live music, comedy, children’s shows and pantomime. During the summer months, our stages are the heart of the Edinburgh Festivals in the world’s leading festival city.

Our Creative Engagement team delivers an outstanding programme of year round activities designed to inspire creativity, support wellbeing and provide learning opportunities to a wide range of communities. We are particularly proud of our flourishing dementia friendly community, which empowers people with lived experience of dementia to be active citizens in their communities.  We celebrate what people living with dementia can achieve, and advocate for the positive impacts of arts engagement.

We are now seeking a Creative Engagement Coordinator to lead our nationally recognised work with people living with dementia. Reporting to the Head of Creative Engagement and responsible for managing freelance artists, sessional staff and volunteers, you will directly deliver creative activities and build meaningful relationships across the dementia friendly community, its networks and stakeholders. You will provide training opportunities for staff across the organisation and identify further ways to create a dementia enabled environment across our venues. You will represent Capital Theatres externally and contribute to cross-sectoral forums and partnerships at a local and national level to ensure our work stays at the forefront of best practice.

This is a full-time, permanent contract and is subject to a probationary period of six months.
