Critically acclaimed jazz-blues singer Madeleine Peyroux, often referred to as the Billie Holiday of the '90s, started singing after discovering street musicians in the Latin Quarter in Paris. Her first album, 1996's Dreamland, launched to rave reviews and was even pronounced by Time magazine as "the most exciting, involving vocal performance by a new singer this year".
Peyroux has also received critical acclaim for 2006’s Half the Perfect World and 2013’s The Blue Room. The enigmatic singer's latest release is 2016’s Secular Hymns, a moving 10-song collection that brings her jazz sensibility into roots music territory.
